Songwriters Circle: Share & Workshop Your Songs
May 20 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
FreeA cozy, collaborative space for writers of all levels
Calling all songwriters! Whether you have a polished piece, a half-finished idea, or just a melody or lyric fragment itching for the next step—bring it here. This is a judgment-free zone to share, experiment, rekindle with our muse, and grow together.
How it works:
-
Doors open at 6:30PM; we’ll start sharing at 7:00PM
-
We’ll go around the circle (campfire-style) so everyone can share one song—finished or in progress. Need feedback? Let us know how to listen. Stuck on a verse? We’ll help brainstorm. Want to play with harmonies or an arrangement? Bring your lyrics and/or a chart to share and we’ll sing/play along.
-
Depending on time, we’ll open the floor for extra shares, riffing, and support.
-
Close out with a writing prompt or theme for next month to keep the creativity flowing.
Logistics:
-
Sound: To make sure everyone’s heard, I’ll provide a small acoustic amp, 2 mics, and cables—just bring your voice or instrument. (House classical guitar available, but feel free to bring your own.) I’ll also have a music stand & light.
-
Space: Soul Song Sanctuary is an intimate, shoe-free zone (think comfy living room vibes). Choose from couches, floor cushions, or folding chairs—whatever helps you relax. Water and tea provided; pack in/out any snacks.
-
Bring: Your song (in any form!), a notebook, and an instrument if you’d like. Bring a couple of lyric/chart sheets to share if you’d like to invite others to play/sing along. Optional: cozy socks, a blanket, or a favorite pen.
-
After: Late-night owls may want to head to Chelsea’s for their open mic when we wrap around 9.
About your host:
I’m jewels—a folk/Americana-leaning singer-songwriter who moved here from Portland OR. You may know me from open-mic at Brews or playing out. I’m excited to connect with fellow local musicians outside of gigs. All genres, skill levels, and experience welcome!
